ABU RAWASH WWTP (PHASE IV) Project – P-EG-E00-011 |
1.Arab Republic of Egypt has received a loan from the African Development Bank to finance toward the cost of ABU RWASH WWTP (PHASE IV) project.
2. The principal objectives of this project are to:
(i)Contribute to food production by increasing 400,000 m3 per day the availability of quality recycled water for productive purposes in the Barakat drainage system and downstream. It is expected that irrigated land will increase by 29,000 acres through the use of this additional water. (ii) Increase access to safely managed sanitation services for more than 2.0 million people in the West Bank of Nile’s River. (iii) Protect and restore water-related ecosystems by improving the quality of water resources avoiding domestic pollution, which will also contribute to a healthy environment reducing health risks associated to wastewater-borne diseases. And (iv) Create more than 800 new employment opportunities, with special attention to the creation of new employment opportunities for women.
3. The project includes the following components:
The Abu Rwash wastewater treatment plant with capacity 400,000 m3/day include pre-treatment, Primary treatment, biological treatment and disinfection. The scope of works of the project consists of the design, build, commissioning and operation & maintenance , Phase IV of ABU RWASH Wastewater Treatment Plant, including detailed design The wastewater treatment Plant of the latest updated process technologies will become part of the Giza Wastewater Project. The fourth extension of the Plant will be capable of treating to the required standards a nominal flow of 400,000 cubic meters per day of raw sewage, with peak flows of 520,000 cubic meters per day.
The project includes all civil/electromechanical process structures and service building works as described in the Tender Documents.
4. Procurement of goods and works will be in accordance with the Bank’s Procurement frameworks for October 2015, which is available on Banks’s website at www.afdb.org
